Specialisation option in BA and MA History and Teaching Degrees

Specialisation option in Eastern European History in other degree programmes

The subject ‘Eastern European History’ can also be studied as part of the BA ‘History’, the BA ‘Medieval and Modern History’, the MA “History”, the MA ‘Global History’ and the teacher training programme. In principle, all lectures, seminars and tutorials offered in Eastern European History can also be chosen in the BA, MA and teacher training programmes.

Specialisation option in Eastern European History in the BA programme in History

Students enrolled in BA programmes in history who wish to specialise in Eastern European history have the option of completing the advanced module scheduled for the 4th/5th semester – consisting of a lecture and a seminar – entirely in Eastern European history. It is also possible (after consultation with the lecturer) to write the BA thesis in Eastern European history if the corresponding advanced seminar in the respective epoch has been chosen.

History/Teaching History

Students enrolled in the Master's programme in Medieval and Modern History and the Teacher Training programme in History may attend courses at the Department of Eastern European History. Credits earned in the Department of Eastern European History are recognised by the Department of History. However, students should not take more than one course in Eastern European history per historical period. Prof. Dr. Tanja Penter is authorised to conduct examinations in medieval and modern history as well as for the teaching degree programme in history.
