Profile
The two-year Master's course is jointly organized by the Department of History at Heidelberg University and the Mention Histoire at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, a prestigious elite university for social sciences in Paris. It combines the characteristic teaching and research traditions of both institutions for a binational, integrated course of study, which is characterized by an intensive research orientation based on a long-term individual project, methodical reflection and excellent academic supervision.

Requirements
- An above-average first degree (B.A., Licence) with 2.0/Mention Bien or better
- Very good knowledge of both languages of instruction of the study program: French and German (level B2-C1, independent use of language). Slight deficits can be compensated for by participating in intensive language courses in the first study phase
- B.A. degree in History or a degree program with at least 50% History, but at least 70 ECTS credits from courses with a historical focus
- Depending on the focus of the compulsory elective area, very good knowledge of another modern foreign language (modern times), good knowledge of Latin (Middle Ages) or knowledge of Latin and Greek (antiquity) as a prerequisite
