Setting Type: Fictional

Individual Assessment
“Freedom Fighters” is a game in which players are fighting back a Soviet Invasion of the United States in an alternative historical-scenario of the early 21st century. In a world in which the Soviet Union has dropped the Atomic Bomb on Berlin and subsequently subjugated all of Europe under Communist rule, then had the power to expand to South and Mesoamerica, a Soviet surprise invasion hits as the player is working in New York. The Soviet soldiers and their autocratic, repressive regime are presented in an almost Orwellian fashion that the player then, without much question or build-up, naturally starts to fight against. It is a clear case of a designated Aggressor with an Active Role, as the player eventually overcomes the Aggressor, at least partially.
