Field Trips Eastern European history

8 and 9 May 2025 German-Swiss Study Day for Eastern European History

On 8 and 9 May 2025, the 12th German-Swiss Study Day for Eastern European History took place at the Wiesneck Educational Centre.

The conference brought together the chairs of Eastern European History from Baden-Württemberg and Switzerland to present current research projects and exchange ideas on the use of artificial intelligence at universities.

The Institute for Eastern European History at Heidelberg University was represented with three presentations:

  • Dr Anastassiya Schacht: ‘From Wilson to Lenin? Failed Projects of National Self-Determination in Post-Imperial Central Asia’
  • Dr Fabian Baumann: ‘The Threatened Republic: High Treason, Disloyalty and Enmity towards the State in the First Czechoslovak Republic’
  • PD Dr Franziska Schedewie: ‘Who is Vitaly Korotich? On the trail of a perestroika troubadour’

We would like to express our sincere thanks for the inspiring exchange and exciting discussions.

We look forward to the next study day in 2026!
