Questions about studying history and historical auxiliary sciences in all degree programmes at the Department of History at Heidelberg University can be addressed to various offices or persons.

For questions about the course of studies, examinations, change of subject, etc., please contact the academic advisors at the department. Please make use of the consultation hours and reserve a ‘slot’ in advance. Short-term changes/cancellations of consulting hours will be announced on the homepage of the Department of History. Please take a look at the latest posts there before planning a visit.

In addition to the academic advisors, all other lecturers at the department, especially the assistants, are also available to answer questions regarding your studies as part of the general student counselling service. Please make use of their consulting hours. An overview of the consulting hours of all lecturers during the semester, including room number and email address, can be found on our website. Important: Special consultating hours are offered during the lecture-free period.

You can find information and advice on issues relating to secondary school teacher training at Heidelberg University, study organisation and examinations, polyvalent B.A. 50% with teacher training option & M.Ed.) on the website of the Heidelberg School of Education (HSE), which is based in Bergheim (Voßstraße 2, Building 4330, 69115 Heidelberg). We recommend subscribing to the HSE mailing list, which organises regular information and advice events on all aspects of the teaching profession and reminds you of important deadlines (e.g. application deadlines for the Master of Education).

There is a wide range of other counselling services, especially those offered by the Central Student Advisory Office, including on issues of inclusion. We have compiled this information on a separate ‘Counselling’ webpage.

Basic information

Before contacting the Department of History's academic advisors, you should - if you have not already done so - familiarise yourself with the basic documents for organising your history studies. We have compiled these on a separate webpage. Please inform yourself about the basics of your degree programme there before visiting the Student Advisory Service! Please note that study plans, module handbooks and examination rules and regulations differ depending on the version of the examination regulations in which you are enrolled. Make a note of your questions.

Internships

From Summer semester 2016: There is now a separate authorisation for the recognition and registration of internships, see ‘Recognition of internships’ in the table below.

Transkript of Records

A current ‘Transcript of Records’ in the subject of History (B.A. History, B.A. Medieval and Modern History, B.A. Historical Methodology, M.A. History, M.A. Global History) can be issued by any of the three academic advisors during their office hours. For a complete transcript for both subjects, please contact the Joint Examination Office in Voßstr. 2 directly. It is planned that in future you will be able to create digitally certified and validatable transcripts of records yourself via the ‘Self-Service’ in heiCO.

Please send your enquiries by email to only one student advisor! Your email will be answered.

You can download the respective registration modes for reserving ‘slots’ during these consulting hours here as a digital poster.
